PRINCE OF WALES
HIS CANADIAN TOUR. PARTY ARRIVES AT QUEBEC. MR. BALDWIN ON DISARMAMENT <t\ CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHI • QUEBEC, July 30. Arriving shortly after midnight, the Empress of Australia, bearing the Prince of Wales, Prince George, and the Rt. Hon. Stanley Baldwin (Prime Minister), anchored in the St. Lawrence River off Quebec, to await the welcome of a party, including the Canadian Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. W. L. Mackenzie King), which came aboard at 10 a. in. The party accompanied the visitors to the shore to attend an official reception. A huge crowd on the -wharf was cheering as they landed. Mr. Baldwin said he stepped ashore on Canadian soil with the firm hope that a- definite conclusion would he reached at the Disarmament Conference. He does not expect to see President Coolidge or to discuss the situation with him.
He said: “I did not leave England until I was satisfied that our delegates would return to Geneva with a failhope of arriving at- a conclusion. lam sure no effort 'has been -spared on our oart to arrive at such a conclusion. Further, I feel confident that if a definite agreement is not reached- it will not he our fault.”
