INVESTIGATING BUR WOOD TRAGEDY. (by TELKOHAPR —■p’R.V.SS association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 27. Eive members of the detective force under the control of Inspector A. Cameron have been, conducting investigations in connection with the Burwood tragedy. Detective-Sergeant James Bickerdike, whose transfer to Auckland was announced some days prior to the tragedy, is one and the others are: Detective-Sergeant Young and Detectives Walsh (Wanganui), Jarrold (Wellington), and Laugeson (Christchurch). WHARFAGE ON PARCELS. WELLINGTON, July 27. Following on a recommendation made bv the Harbour Association, the Wellington Harbour Board discussed the question of levying wharfage dues on goods imported by post. The Prime Minister had refused to allow it. Opinions were expressed that while the mails should be allowed in free, everything else should pay wharfage. The chairman said that a deputation would shortly interview the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates' and urged 'the unfairness of exempting, parcels by post.
