A deputation of unemployed Maltese' migrants waited on the Premier, Mr. Butler and complained that their dole ox 10s 6d per week had been stopped. They said that many of them were returned soldiers. They did not want charity, but work. At, least a hundred Maltese, were destitute and had no money and little clothing. Mr Butler replied that the Government had decided to discontinue the dole, which was granted by the previous Government, in order to place the unemployed on the same level.
