PELTED WITH STONES
TRAIN CREW ATTACKED. BREAD AND MEAT STRIKERS OUT OFF SUPPLIES. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COP* RIGHT. Received 11.45 a.m. to-day-BRISBANE, July 26. As a cane train was entering South Johnstone, a large number of strikers, who had taken up a position in the rear of the building, stoned the tram crew, which consisted of the enginedriver, fireman and two farmers. Although many missiles hit the engine, the crew was struck. A little further on two large stones had been placed on the line. Female sympathisers with the strikers are taking an active part against the train crews. Farmers allege that members ot too police force were in th-e vicinity while the stone-throwing was fin progress, but no action was taken to apprehend the men responsible. The mill director say s that sto noth rowing incidents are of almost daily occurrence. The mill management has been informed that in accordance with the Trades and Labour Gounod s decision, no meat would be available for them in future. 'Hie bread supply would also be out off. Arrangements had been made for the mill to bake for its own requirements.
