OTAKI TRAIN WRECK.
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS A SSOI I ATION . I OTAIvI, July 2li. A gang of forty men last evening put in a loop line, thus allowing all passenger trains to pass the wrecked Auckland express. An attempt is being made to-day to get the derailed engine and carriages back on to the line. FIRE AT ROTORUA. ROTORUA, July 26. The Whakarewarewa tea kiosk, an extensive building, was burned to the ground at live o’clock this morning. A heavy wind was blowing and torrential ram fell. When the brigade arrived, it was hopeless to save the building, and work was concentrated on the surrounding premises, which were effectively isolated. The kiosk was owned by Nathan and Co., of Auckland, and was leased by Mrs. Donaldson, and was used for refreshments and dancing. The carved house adjoining was not damaged The insurance was unknown.
