Mr. Rosewarne, the backer of Giles’ flight, interviewed at Detroit, said: “The flight is more than a. sporting proposition. My reason for backing it is that the destination, Australia, is my native country, and I hope it will he* stimulated to inaugurate flying where railroads for inland travel are lacking. T hope to see the day when I can go home to Australia in throe days by air, whereas it now requires a “month by rail and steamer.” Mr. Rosewarne is a prominent general contractor, who built most of Detroit’s fine schools, and is very wealthy.
