Jn -a codicil dated January 11, 1920, Ferdinand made Michel heir to his remaining fortune. Prince Carol only receives money securities, his legally entitled portion. The codicil emphasises- that Prince Carol’s renunciation of the throne was a severe ordeal to Ferdinand, Marie and the country, although necessary for the sake of the country -and the dynasty.
KING CAROL 11. PRINCE’S NEW TITLE. PARIS, July 21. Prince Carol of Rumania has exploded a- political -bombshell. He .has issued a declaration in the Press in which he styles himself his Majesty King Carol IL of Rumania, thus claiming the throne of Ids five-year-old son, making it evident that he repudiates his threefold renunciation of the throne. The statement says: “His Majesty, grievously stricken in his affection for hi.s august father.. has asked by telegram to the Royal Family in Bucharest for authority to attend the funeral. ’ The statement adds: “Thus tar His Majesty has received no reply.” Prince Carol remains in his Paris residence. Replying to journalists desiring -an interview, lie sent liis rne-s----,stage: “My sorrow does not allow me to be interviewed. Please respect the sorrow of a son who feels deeply the loss of his beloved father and a country’s loss of its devoted king.”
