ROSE BOWL CONTEST.

The second of the series ol cycle road races held under the .auspices of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club for the Cambrian Rose Bowl drew la field of twelve to. contest the twenty-five miles course yesterday afternoon. Leaving the vicinity of the Hawera. Post Office, the route .proceeded to Normanby, thence along the Normanby Road to its junction with the Manaia-Kaponga road, where the course turned for Alanaia, returning to Hawera via the Main South RoadEight of the field completed the journey, the winner being G. Ingram, who started from the limit of 13mdn., and ill passing the post .still held Isis advantage of lmin. 30sec. from the second man home, C. Walker, whose handicap was llmin. 30sec. Starting from Smin., A. G. Moore was third. Fastest time was recorded by B. Kelsen (lhr. lOinin. 42sec-), while H. Kel-sen (lhr. llmin. 6sec.) and A. G. Moore (lhr. llmin. 49sec.) annexed second and third fastest times respectively. The points awarded for the rose bowl are 6,5, 4,3, 2 and 1 respectively for the first six to. finish, and 3,2 and 1 respectively for fastest times. The finishing order was as follows : G. N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP

Advice was received from the secretary of the West Coast Centre by the secretary of the Hawera A.A-C. (Air. G .11. Wear) to-day that the centre has decided to send the rider gaining fastest time in the West Const road championship race to compete in the New Zealand championship. The letter intimates that as the New Zealand championship' is to be held on September 10. the centre race should he arranged not. later than September 3 and inquiries whether the. Hawera Club is desirous of conducting the centre event.
