Replying to a deputation, the Minister of Public Works said that the condition of Victoria’s finances was worse than for 25 Years. Although it was announced that the Year's deficit wag £600.000. it would be found when the Budget was submitted to *<he Assembly that the deficit would be' over a million. The loss on the soldier sottiVment was not taken into account in the first, estimate.
