(By “Limited.”) Denier fulfilled expectations by winning at Trcntham. He is very well and there are more to come liis way. Tvoilus went amiss and was unable to start at the meeting. Killocli was given a run the first day, but her old trouble must have developed, as she was not accepted for the concluding days. Taitaiata won the hack steeplechase for J. Fryer. Very few of the local punters could fancy him, as he was very peggy on his legs before leaving. K. Morrison is to be congratulated on his first win. Dick made no mistake after getting over the last fence and rode his mount right out. At the thoroughbred sale yesterday Mr Alexander bought a filly by Pershore—Llanelly for 90 guineas. Pershorc is an All Black horse and was a fair performer in Australia. Old Passin’ Through, though he finished second on the first day at Hawke’s Bay, pulled up as if he would he improved by the race, and on the second day he was expected to have a great show of winning, but he ran so bad]v that a vet. was called in to examine him, his owner thinking something seriously wrong. Passin’ Through has made a quick recovery after treatment, has put on a lot of condition, and looks well. His owner does not intend to start him in the Grand National Steeplechase, but will take him south for the Lincoln and Beaufort Steeplechases, run over shorter courses. Of interest to local sportsmen is the news that Paganelli (Don Quex —Kingdom 1 ), part owned by Mr Roberts, of Okaiawa, is developing well and has lengthened out since lie last raced. Good judges aver that he is the makings of a typical Derby candidate and will have to be seriously considered in the coming classic. 3-year-old events. He is trained at To Kapa by M. Carroll.
Lady Limond, by Limond —Lady Laddo, in A. Wright’s stable at Foxton. after running third at Hawke’s Bay and filling a similar position at Otalci, succeeded in breaking her maiden status at Wellington, and may now fulfil all the good deeds her connections expected of her. Local trainers need to take note of the dates of the North Taranaki and Egmont-Wanganui Hunt -tub meetings, Marton, Wanganui, Waverlev and Auckland spring meetings, as there are important alterations.
