RIOTS IN VIENNA
WORKERS AROUSED LAW COURTS BURNT. ACQUITTAL OF ANTI-SOCIALISTS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 10.10 a.m. to-day. VIENNA, July 15. Serious rioting following the acquittal, despite a plea of guilty, of three anti-Socialists on a charge of murdering two Socialists and woumbng five others in tlie village c.f Sehottendorf. The acquittal aroused the working men of Vienna, who downed tools and marched from the Law Courts, shouting “Revolution,” “Kill the Fascists,” “Revenge.” The police were powerless and eventually, when attacked, they fired twenty rounds into the crowd, who then sullenly began to disperse. Later a mob rushed the Law Courts, looted the rooms, set fire to the building, and prevented the firemen from attempting to extinguish the flames.
