DEMONSTRATION FARM
MEETING OF WAIMATE WEST COMMITTEE.
There were present at the ordinary meeting of the Waimate West Demonstration Farm Committee Messrs. J. W. Deem (chairman.), F. Mourie, J. Leslie, E. Long, J. F. Stevenson, E. J. Betts, J. S. McKay, and Sir Win. Le Fleming.
Messrs. J. and G. P. Cottrell wrote to.say that a bull from the farm got out and on to their farm, and that it bad broken a gate, which they wanted renewed. Tt was decided to leave the matter in Mr. E. J. Betts’s hands to settle in an equitable way.
A draft balance-sheet was read by the chairman, and will be submitted to the annual meeting next month. The chairman, in a brief renort. said that feed was scarce on the farm. The ensilage was done, and they were feeding out carrots and bay. Four cows had come in, and a large number would come in during the next month or six weeks. The farm showed a good profit. The returns of butterfat showed an increase of about 4QOOll>. which, though factory pay-out was less, brought the financial result to about the same as last year. The values of dairy stock and implements had been reviewed, and a policy of conservative values agreed upon. writing down where required. A roller had ho*en bought, hut if (ho committee did not aoprove it would he taken for Stratford.
