A special meeting of the Patna Borough Council lias been called for [Monday evening next to deal with, a notice of motion to extend the resolution passed -at the last meeting of the council granting the Rest-room Committee the use of the building known as Egan’s at a rental of 15s par week, and to -substitute therefore a resolution that the council resume possession of the building forthwith, and defer any dealings with the property until the premises are vacated. The members of the ! oca.l Foresters’ Lodge are celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of their lodge on Tuesday next,, July ID, when a dance jn honour of the occasion is to be held in the Town Hall. A large number of tickets have already been disposed of, and the committee, in charge of affairs is leaving no stone .unturned to make the gathering a huge success. A number of members of -sister lodges have- signified their intention- of being present. A meeting of those interested in the reformation of the Patea Brass Band was held on Tuesday evening, -a, fair number of enthusiasts being present. Mr A. F. Spooner, the convener, was voted to the chair, and explained the reasons- for call i no- the meeting, and jiopecl t-liat the outcome would he .satisfactory. After discussion, it was unanimous.’v resolved to form a band, and Mr Spooner was. appointed conductor. The tenderfoot members -of the local troop of the Boys’ Scouts were duly invested hv the District Commissioner, Mr F. W Horner, of Ha worn , on Monday evening, in the presence of a number of residents. The local troop of the Girl Guides, under Captain T Gibson was also present.
