Payments to be made by the Hawera Co-op. Dairy Factory Company, to suppliers on the Butli of this month will bring the pay-out to date for the season to is 3d per lb butterfat. It is considered that a further payment will yet be made.

The Manaia Choral Society will resume practice this (Wednesday) evem]njr) in the Manaia School, having secured the 'services of Mr C. Lamb, of Hawera. a.s conductor. They invite the assistance of voices in all parts, and as i.he society is a distinct asset to the life of the community it is hoped all residents will do theiir host to assist. A meeting of unemployed at Wellington yesterday resolved to wait upon the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, and to march through the streets to Parliament Buildings with the idea of impressing on the Government that the unemployed wanted wages at full trade union rates, or full maintenance. The Christchurch Presbytery yesterday carried the. following motion relating to the Gaining Bill: “That in the judgment of this presbytery the proposals in the Gaming Amendment Bill introduced into Parliament by Sir Geo. Hunter will great’v facilitate and increase the opportunity for gambling, which already prevails to what must be regarded as an alarming extent in the community. We therefore express our empahtic protest against the Bill.” Another motion was carried to the effect that the ministers of the Christchurch Presbytery take an early opportunity of bringing the evils of gambling before, their people, and especially their young people. The concert to be held in the Forester’s Hall to-morrow evening, on behalf of the Maori Methodist Mission, promises to be unique in the matter of entertainment. Included in the programme are poi, haka and solo items by the Maoris, whilst a special feature _ will be the Pierrots, whose mirth-raising items promise to cause much amusement. A special item of club-swinging has been added to the programme, which should prove of exceptional merit. The fortnightly euchre party and dance is to take 'place in the Otakeho Hall on Friday, July 15.
