CASEY DEFEATS HEENEY. PROFESSIONAL BOUT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 8. Harrv C'asey (Wellington), New Zealand middelweiglit champion, defeated Jack Heeney (Gisborne) ex-middle-weight champion, on points in a 15round professional bout ab New Plymouth last night. The men were evenly matched, hut Casey was more aggressive and more enterprising and nearly all through held a slight advantage. There was a considerable amount of infighting of a clever nature, but never once did the men aopear to be wholly extended. In the last two rounds Heeney seemed gripped bv indecision and appeared wholly unable to recover the ground lost in the earlier rounds. In the amateur bouts, N. Roebuck (Taranaki flyweight champion) defeated 8. G ray (Manawatu champion); T. Donovan (Taranaki leather weight champion) defeated W. Gray (Ma.nawatu lightweight \\ . Stevens. At Newcastle, Jack Roberts knocked out George Stace in the tenth round of a contest for the State light-weight championship.
