WAVERLEY RACING CLUB

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A committee meeting of the Waverley Racing G ; ub was held on Saturday. Mr G. li Graham presided over a good attendance of members. On Air J. Dalton’s motion, Mr Graham was elected a member of the Wanganui District Committee. The Dannevirke Racing Club’s objection to the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club holding a totalise tor meeting on September 17 was discussed. Mr J. E. Palmer said that it was very unfair for such clubs to apply for coinciding dates and urged the chairman to approach the Dates Committee of the Racing Conference with a view to securing this date for the EgmontWanganui Hunt Club. Mr J. E. Palmer moved: “That the Hou. Mr Bollard he: asked to forward a letter of condolence to the W.R.C. on the death of the extra day’s permit promised by him, and that all correspondence in connection with the application for the extra day’s racing be published in the Press.” —The motion was carried unanimously. Air J. J. Bourke moved: “That this meeting is strongly of opinion that the issuing of permit*; should he phjced outside political influence and control, and that the Racing Conference have cuinulete control in the granting and distribution of all permits.”—This motion was also carried. The chairman was appointed delegate to represent the W.R.C. at the Country Clubs’ Association’s meeting, to he- hold in Wellington on .Tulv 13. Air J. E. Palmer proposed the following remit to the Country Clubs’ Association: “That the- country clubs nominate a representative to the District Committee that committee to appoint a representative to the Racing Conference.” —This remit was approved.

A recommendation w:v, made to the annual general l meeting that the WR.C. donate a trophy to the EgmontWanganui Hunt Clubs for its meeting ■an September 17 next.

The chairman moved that the report and balance-sheet he adopted, .subject to audit.
