GREYHOUND RACING.
GREAT BOOM IN SPORT. SHELLING SHARES WORTH £9LONDON, June 18. A start is about to be made with greyhound racing in London, for which a special track has to be erected at the White City. The “Daily News” announces that a. syndicate lias purchased Wembley Stadium for £150,000 for a new London centre for the sport, which now is becoming very popular throughout the country. The sport has tens of thousands of adherents ; »n Manchester, Liverpool, and uirmingliam, its success being one of the romances of sport. It is asserted that shilling shares in one of the promoting bodies are now valued at £9. Many greyhounds well known in the North will run in London, their owners including the Duchess of Southerland London’s second course, at Harrinuav Park, will he opened in July.
