Debris which fell on the Gorge road tvlieu the .anushde occurred fast week has been removed sufficiently to permit tight motor traffic using tiie road. FIRE IN AN AUCKLAND SCHOOL. AUCKLAND, July 4. A fire an a large building in Wellesley Street, known as tire Normal School, broke out shortly before five o’clock on Sunday evening mind wa> extinguished after ail hour's bard figlit by the brigade. Considerable damage was don© to the classrooms, most affected of which, were those of the model and standards lour, five and six. Little damage was done* itq- the furnishings of the school, the records were slightly damaged by water and tlie library was practically unb armed. The eastern half of the building, containing five classrooms, was practically undamaged. The fire originated in a number of motor tyres, stacked in a heap three feet high. In the opinion of Superintendant Wilson, it wafei an act qf incendiary. There was no insurance,- the Education Department carrying its own risk.
