(From Our Own Correspondent). EUCHRE PARTY. The weekly euchre party was held on Tuesday evening and, despite counterattractions. was very well attended. Comnetitaon~was again very keen, and in the case of the ladies ended m a tie between Mrs Ga.rgan and Miss Byrnes. The play-off was a very stubborn contest which went the whole way, Mrs Gargan proving the winner. The gentleman,’®: prize went to Mr Thorn who won nine of the ten games plaved, Mr J. Gibson, with eight games, being again runner-up. GENERAL NOTES. The weather .still continues broken and cold, and there has been considerable rain during the last week. A snell of drv weather would be appreciated. A visitor to this district from Ashburton informed your correspondent that down there tilings were very dry, and, as he put it, “We could do with, some of vour rain clown our way.” The milk supplied to the local factory j®. now being taken in to Ivaponga by the clairv company’s lorry and turned into cheese. Some alterations are being made in the factory to make way for a larger pasteuriser. New concrete stands for the whey tank® are also to be erected. The tanks will then be under eoveir with a .storeroom beneath.. To augment the water supply a large SOOO gallon tank will be placed on top.
