A Press cable message from London states that (he Rt. Hon. L. C. M. S. Amery, Secretary for the Dominions, and Mrs Amery are definitely 'starting the Empire tour on August 22, when they leave for Capetown, Air Reg. Haseltine, who ha® been a popular and very active member of the Waipukurau Operatic Society and Orphan’s <piub, left Waipukurau on Saturday for his home in Hawera. The committee of the local Operatic Society met Air. Haseltine before leaving and presented him with a small memento of their esteem.
Mr. W. S. Glenn, M.P. for Rangitikei, Junior Whip of the Reform Party, expressed a wish at yesterday’s caucus that he should be relieved of his position. His resignation was; accepted with expressions of appreciation of his services. The vacancv lias not been filled (reports our Wellington correspondent).
