IN BANKRUPTCY.
ESTATE OF H. M. LEE. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Hamilton Middleton Lee, contractor, of Hawera, was held yesterday, there being present Messrs C. D. Arlidge (representing Goldstone and Patterson and Dr. W. M. Thomson), C. T. Henderson (representing E. Higgs), H. L. Spratt. L. A. Taylor (representing McCormick and Co.). The statement of assets disclosed the total debts to be £l2l 3s lid, and the assets nil. The list of unsecured creditors is as follows: Hurrell Bros. £23 3s, Dr. Thomson £7 17s 6d, Goldstone and Patterson £7 17s 6d, Dennis King £9 3s 3d, H. L. Spratt £2 2s, E. Higgs £6 10s 6d, O’Dea and Bayley £3 3s, C. Kneebone £B, McCormick and Co. £B, J. TV Lash £l6, estate G. C. Sage £l3 15s, Mason Strothers £2O, G. Syme and Go. £5 12s sd. BAN KR LOT’S STATEIyIENT. Bankrupt in his personal statement said that in 1924 he took over a farm ,at Denby Road, being financed by R L. and A. C. Pease, who advanced him £I4OO. He carried on successfully until he took over a stone-croslier and hauling plant in January, 1925. His losses were due to continual slips and cost of repairs. He lost £IOOO through this. He sold the farm in July, 1925, for £2OOO. The profit went to reduce his liability to R. L. and A. C. Pease. He retained the crushed until October, 1926. By that time he had no assets of any kind. Bankrupt attributed his failure to the loss connected with the crusher and to slips. He had hoped to pay his debts, but had been forced to file by one of his creditors. The bankrupt was cross-examined, after which the meeting was adjourned sine die.
