ST. PAUL’S PERIL.

BURIAH DISTURBANCE

LONDON', June 12. • The peril to St. Paul’s was emphasised by yesterday’s burial in the crypt of the * late Dr. Charles Macpherson, who had been St. Paul’s organist since 1916. It- was preceded by the cremation of the remains, because it is imperative that the foundation of the cathedral shall tie disturbed as little as possible. It is likely that this rule will continue even after the restoration of the edifice is completed, owing to the experts’ warning that any considerable disturbance of the foundations will be dangerous to the safety of the cathedral. Canon S. A. Alexander (treasurer of St. Paul’s) says that he has refused the burial of two or three notabilities owing to their relatives objecting to cremation.
