The annual reunion of the Farmers’ Co-op. staff took • place last evening at the Savoy Tea Rooms. There were present about 180 persons, including the staff, which now stands at 111. Dancing was indulged in until the early hours of the morning, when, a particularly happy gathering terminated. During the supper interval Mr. W; G. Belton, a director of the firm, apologised for the absence of Messrs Harper, Mar fell, Corliill, Gonnett, Alexander, S vines, FLoneyfield, Rainier, Bremer, and Jones, other members of the board who were unable to attend. He thanked the staff for their loyalty and energy to tlie firni during tne year, and at the same time remarked that few people recognised the importance of the Co-op. to their district. The firm paid out salaries amounting to nearly £27,000 per annum, a considerable* proportion of which, was paid out at the Hawera head office.
