The weather will probably he cool and changeable, but there is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather prevailing, and the night will probably lie very cold, with frosts inland. The barometer is rising. Tho accountant of a. prominent Christchurch warehouse became rather curious the other day when he espied a. member of his .staff hastily slip a bottle into his pocket. He went hack to lii.s sanctum, but decided to make a haistv visit shortly afterwards, when he discovered the clerk taking another “swig” from the bottle. The employee became a little embarrassed when questioned as to what he was drinking, hut the accountant only smiled when he discovered that the “crime” consisted in the clerk taking a dose of Baxter’s Lung Preserver to ward off a cold.
