HARBOUR BOARD'S HOUSING SCHEME. WELLINGTON, June 22 The Wellington Harbour Board has set up a committee to go into the question of providing houses for the employees. The proposal is to spend •220,060, which will provide for 22 houses. Members were unanimous in supporting the idea. in the course of discussion, it vas mentioned that some years ago the (card was offered forty acres for 24000 and the offer iva s rejected. The land is now worth £40,000. SAMOAN REG ULATJONS. WELLINGTON. June 23. An amendment of the Samoan Immigration Consolidation Order ot 1924 has been gazetted, substituting the Govo.rnor-General-in-Counoil for the Minister of External- Affairs as the authority on which Samoa may act in regard Lo deportation of any person ' ii the administration is satisfied that .sue.)i person is disaffected, disloyal or likely to be a source of danger to the peace, order and good government of Samoa." The most important part of the amendment lies in the deletion of the remainder of subsection (a), thus making it possible to deal with certain persons at present protected by the provisions of the sub-section relating to residence in Samoa.

Apparentlv no stock is missing. TWO SEAMEN QUARREL. INVERCARGILL. June 23. At the Bluff Do lice Court. Anthony Me Hale, a seaman on the Cumberland, was committed for trial for inflicting bodily harm upon William Bower, by striking him with a knife. The evidence showed that the men had been drinking and during a quarrel accused seized a knife front the table with which he struck Power. A do’li'v in evidence, said that he had. extricated about half a blade of a tab'o knife from Power’s car. The blade had followed the. base of the skull and a facial' nerve was severed. AleHale was suffering from partial facial paralysis. The knife missed important blood vessels and other nerves.
