MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

CIVIL DISPUTE. The case in which Cecil William Horrocks Heighton. claimed from Erne-st James Lane the sum of £llO, and in which Lane counter-claimed £l6O 18s 3d, was continued in the Hawera Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Mr. P. O’Dea appearing for Heighten l and Mr. H. L. S'pratt for Lane. The cross-examination of the plaintiff on the counter-claim was continued at length. Louis Redstone, a motor garage proorietor of 'Gisborne, stated that on June 19, 1925, Heighten arrived at Gisborne. He motored there in his car, and after staying at the house of witness for a couple of days he left to visit friends up country, and returned after about a week. Certain work was done to the car on June 26. While Heighton was away the car was stored at the garage of witness. Witness produced a cony of a newspaper of July 7 in which Heighten advertised for passengers to accompany him on, his return journey to Taranaki. Cross-examined by Mr. Spratt, witness stated that Heighton visited Gisborne by motor on several occasions, hut he could not. give dates. The case was adjourned for two weeks.
