MANAIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BENEFIT SOCIAL. An encouraging success rewarded those responsible for the organisation of the social and dance which followed the benefit football match on Wednesday to C. Kimberley, the Waimate Club player wlio was recently injured. Excellent music was provided by the “Dixie Four” orchestra, consisting of Messrs J. Davis (piano), P. Mullins (violin), R. Derbidge (saxophone), and 0. Hansen (cornet). Mesdames J. Hickey and Davis wore in charge oi the supper arrangements, and were assisted by the ladies’ committee. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Messrs L. Hughes and E Long, and all present spent a very enjoyable evening. The iManaia Municipal Brass Band played several selections outside of the hall before the dance. CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS. Friday night is being looked forward to by the children, the occasion being the annual fancy dress hall to he held in Manaia Town Hall. Rehearsals have been well attended, and no doubt this year’s gathering will maintain w r ell the reputation previously earned. •As the object is most worthy it merits the support of all residents of the district, and I am sure that all wdio attend will spend a very pleasant evening.
