QUEER RESULTS
THE TOTALISATOR. WORKING- OUT DIVIDENDS. UNDER NEW REGULATIONS. BY CABLE—FRESH ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. Received 11.5 a.in. to-day. .SYDNEY, .Jane 22. The totalisator at. Gosford races, operating on the recently introduced regulations, showed some queer results. m one lace, although the bookmakers’ quotation for tlie winning horse was 4 to 1, the totalisator investors only received their money back, so, although they backed the winner, they did not win. The only ones who benefited were those who had backed the favourite, which ran third, in the ordinary case they would have received less than their investment, but under the new rules they had to receive their money back. Altogether 344 tickets were issued, 28d being on the placed horses.
In another race, the first instance occurred of the totalisator not holding .sufficient money to return to each backer the amount of his original investment. Tickets to the number of 528. aggregating £132, were issued. \\ hen the regulation 124 per cent, had been deducted, £lls 10s remained for division, whereas £ll6 was required.
