COMPILATION OF STATISTICS. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 17. At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Swimming Association, Mr A. Alacßonald said lie would like to see a table compiled which the number of drowning accidents in New Zealand each year. He was of the opinion that quite' a number of good swimmers were being drowned. It would be interesting if they could find out what proportion of those drowned eoula swim, a'nd what proportion could not. Aij. effort should be made to teach swimmers to avoid such occasions as would lead to trouble. It was decided that an effort should be made to compile such a table.
