IRISH ELECTIONS.

—♦ ✓ WIN FOR CONSTITUTIONISTS LATEST PROGRESS RETURN. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COP YRIGHT. June IF, The Dublin correspondent of “The Times,” states that although the returns are incomplete, it is clear the Irish Free State elections have resulted in a victory for the supporters of the Anglo-Irish treaty. The polling was unexpectedly heavy in nearly every constituency. The constitutional elements won, despite the Republicans’ admittedly superior organisation and large campaigning funds which De Valera recently ob- ■ tained in America. Mr Cosgrave declared before _ the election that he would not remain in office unless he won at least 50 seats. This is now most doubtful, but the declaration does not prevent a big alliance with some of the smaller constitutional groups. This seems the most probable result of an election which reaffirms the determinations of the majority of the electors in the Free State to support the Constitution. The election results are as follows: Government Party 39 De Valera-ites 38 Labour Pafty 22 Independents ID Farmers’ Party 8 National League 7 Sinn Fein 4 There are still 25 seats outstanding.
