PORRIDGE STRIKE.
GOVAN PAUPERS PROTEST.
LONDON, June 1
Because they received porridge 730 times in a year the inmates of Govan (Scotland) poorhouse struck and marched in a procession to the Council Chambers.
One complaint made was that the inmates had to be in bed at. 8 o’clock in the evening during the summer, whereas prisoners were allowed to stay up till 9.
