Then Mendit took charge, and led over the last fence from Nyangay, Gulyarri and Pompene, and appeared, to have the race won, but ran wide at the half-distance, and Gulvarri and Pompene. finishing fast, changed the order, the first-named winning by a length. Time,. 6.28. Gulyarri’s win was a great surprise, as he was a rank outsider. Winter Stakes, one mile and a furlong.—Johnnie Jones (8.8) and Freddie C (7.12) dead heat 1, Coolgong (8.10) 3.
