PUBLIC COMPETITIONS FORBIDDEN. BAVARIAN ROMAN CATHOLIC DECREE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION -COPYRIGHT. BERLIN, June 2. The Bavarian Roman Catholic bishops have created a sensation by forbidding gymnastic tournaments organised iait Neuberg in July. The edict is based on the decision of i the German episcopate forbidding ■ women to participate in public gymnastic • competitions, swimming tournaments, and other sports. The edict was read in the churches and priests were enjoined: to restrain the women and girls under their jurisdiction.
