The New Zealand golfers opened their tour in fine weather at Rose Bay links, when, a combined team of New South Wales and New Zealand amateurs played the New South Wales professionals. The professionals won by .14J games to 41. - In the singles Duncan lost to Souter, 5 up and 4 to play; Ross lost to Cory, G and 5; Macfarlane and Eyre, all square; Horton beat Popplewell, 4 and 3; Quin lost to James, 4 and 3. In the foursomes Duncan and Horton lost to C. Clark and W. Spence, 5 and 3; Ross and MacFarlane lost to Souter and Cory, 5 and 4; Quin and Bettington lost to W. Clark and Campbell, 4 and 2. Horton played brilliantly against Popplewell, being even fours at tlie_ finish of the match. Ross, Quin, and MacFarlano all played well.
