FASHIONS IN HAIR.

ANOTHER OPINION.

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.

SYDNEY, June 2. Replying to yesterday’s cable on the effect of women shortening their hair, Mr. 0 ’Reilly, secretary to the Hairdressers ’ Union, says the assertions made are ridiculous. It has been the experience of hairdressers that short hair had the opposite effect. Women wash and shampoo their hair more frequently and use a brush as they did before. There is, however, less wear and tear from the brush, which will last four times as long as it formerly did.

Women used to struggle and tear their hair foi; an.hour, and root out a handful which would be put aside to make paddings. .The effect was dandruff, scalp wounds, and headaches. Nowadays, although there was seven-ty-live per cent, less wear on the brush, there was seventy-five per cent, benefit to the scalp.
