WAVERLEY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT CLUB. A very successful meet was held, on Messrs Aiken Bros.’ property, “Gowanlea,” Waverley, on Saturday last, when a large number of straight followers and motor-car parties were seen out. Some very fine jumping was witnessed. Two kills were registered and a fine day’s sport was obtained. One particularly fine run was made, the quarry eluding the hounds half-a-dozen times in a paddock of thistles, only to be hunted; out again, until both hare and hounds were about exhausted before the kill was finally made. The Master, Dr. Simmons, thanked Messrs Aiken Bros, for the use of their property, and for the splendid manner in which they liad entertained them that day. Cheers were given for the host and hostess. Mr. G. Aiken suitably responded, stating that it gave him great pleasure to see so many present.
