STOLEN FURS.
YOUNG MAN CHARGED WITH] RECEIVING.

Fo I !owing upon the robbery at the Arctic Fur Coy.’s Newton factory of £6OO worth of goods stolen by Frank Bullen and Jack Johnston, already committed for isentence, a young man named Archibald Mac Lean came before the Police Court to-day and was charged with receiving and converting to his own use 24 fur coats, 12 chokers, 2 Kolinski capes>. and 12 fox skins; also with having wilfully attempted to defeat the course of justice. Mac Lean. in a statement, said that he was a wharf labourer. He first met Bailer on May 9in town. Bailer gave him a luggage ticket on the railway station, stating that it was for a bag of furs. If he could drop them he could make a few pounds. He collected the bag of furs a few days later, took it home and placed it in the washhouse. Bailer did not tell him where he got the furs from. He knew the furs had been stolen. The accused, who olended not guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail in one surety of £IOO was allowed.
