NEW ZEALAND WINS SECOND TEST.

The New Zealand University team for the second test was: Butler, Freeman, Ross, Lindsay, Bradanoyitch, Love, Holden, Hindenach, Deegan, Dunne, Aliev, O’Regan, Burns, Smith, Morete. New Zealand, in. the second test match against Sydney University, again lost the toss, and kicked off against the wind and sun. Play was very even. Both sides took turns at attacking, but .some likely movements were spoiled at the critical moment. Sheehan set his backs moving well, but the New Zealand defence was sound. Butler and Ross, the respective fullbacks, got in iseveral good line kicks. The. New Zealand forwards were holding their own in the .ruck better than in the first test match, and combined well in several good dribbling rushes. New Zealand was getting the ball from the scrupi better, but the handling was poor. After some hard work, Lindsay scrambled over at the comer three minutes before half-time, but Butler’s kick failed, and the spell.ended:— New Zealand 3 Sydney 0 A minute after the resumption of play Buffer took a mark and made a good attempt to goal, hut his kick went just outside. The New Zealanders, were keeping the ball among their forwards, who were working well and tackling hard. Shortly afterwards Love injured his ankle, and he was replaced by Pacey. A penalty against Sydney gave O’Regan a kick at goal, but he failed New Zealand then came down strongly, but a likely ‘ try was spoiled by Bradanavtitch not passing out. From a line-out a scramble on the line ensued, and Smith forced his way over to score. Butler’s kick going just wide. A minute later Lindsay secured the ball, made a good run, evaded Sheehan and Burge and scored in the corner. Butler again failed to convert. Sydney then took a turn at attack. The ball came from the ruck to Lamport and then passed through several hands to Burge, who scored. Ross converted. Play tsie.n brightened up. Holden got the ball from a ,scrum and clashed to the Sydney tine, where he lost possession, but Alley dashed over and scored. Lindsay’s kick failed. Svdnev came back, but the Black forwards were playing a great game, Morete yetting in some useful work. A further exciting piece of May, started bv the Sydney full-back, resulted in Sheehan, scoring, hut Ross’s kick went wide.

Sydne-v again attacked strongly, and hammered at the Black line, weak New Zealand tackling letting Mann clash over. Ross failed to add the major points.

New Zealand then pressed hard, hut Sydney were relieved hv a penalty. Hard and exciting play then ensued, and Lindsay, just on time, dashed up and passed to KCegan, who scored. Butler failed with the kick, and the gameended with the scores: New Zealand 15 Svdnev 11
