Miller, who lias for over three years been connected with the Hawera branch of the Bank of Australasia, has received notice of transfer on promotion to Taumairunui. He will leave on Friday next to take over his. new duties. During his residence in Hawera Mr Miller has (been promanently associated with the Hawera Highland Pipe Band and Scottish Society. It is with deep regret that we record the passing away of a highly respected resident of Hawera, Mr Thos. Lambert, who has been in failing health for some time, vet only recently confined to his bed. fifteen years ago he came with his family to New Zealand from Burnley, Lancashire. Hi® wife predeceased him three years ago. Mr Lambert was well known to a large circle of friends, who will miss his kindly advioe and sincere friendship. He iljeaves four daughters and one son. By the death of the late Mr T. T. Watt another link in the chain of old identities -in the Riangitikei district has been .severed, states the “Wanganui Chronicle.” Mr Watt was a son of the late William Hogg Watt, of Wanganui, who sat a$ a member of the Wanganui electoral district from 1882-4 and who was (also Mayor of Wanganui. The late “T.T.” Watt, as he was familiarly called, was horn in Wanganui in 1855 and was educated at the old Wanganui Grammar School, Canterbury College and Cambridge ((Ehigliand). In conjunction with Mr Lloyd Jones he took over the general store business at Marton, which had been carried on for some years by his brother, Mr W. G. Watt, and Sir. Robert Nolan (later Sir Robert). The late Mr Watt bought out Mr. Jones’® interest and carried on the business successfully for some years until he sold out to Messrs Davenport Bros, when lie took up farming pursuits in Utiku and Kakariki.
