CHRISTCHURCH, May 26. The Supreme Court to-day awarded £7OO damages to Charles Gibson, a labourer, in a claim against the Railway Department for damages on account of injuries received in well sinking.

The farmers’ conference passed remits protesting against the proposal to extend killing space and other facilities at Westfield Freezing Works, also expressing indignation that the Meat Board had acquiesced in the request for the extension. The conference advocated the passing of legislation to enable the establishment of a wool control board.. Other remits approved were: That dairymen in the three wards contested an, June should vote, only for candidates pledged to .reinstate, the policy abandoned by Control Board; that there sliouild be no interference by the Government with prices or trade land commerce generally, except where required to assist the developing of markets or combating trusts; protesting against the continuance of the protective tariff whereby certain industries were heavily subsidised at the expense of the primary produce exporters.

BURGLARIES AT GREY MOUTH

GKEYMOUTH, .26. Minor burglaries nave been resumed at Greymouth after a lull of a fortnight. The railway goods sheds were entered on Tuesday night, the night watchman scaring, of the intruders.: Last night Schaeff’s furniture shop was entered and several carpets were taken, valued at £5.
