DELIBERATIONS AT AVHANGAREI

(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION .) WHANGAREI, May 25. At this morning’s session, of the Fanners’ Union Conference, the president brought forward a matter foreign to the agenda .paper by permission of the meeting, dealing with the question of marketing dairy produce in London.

He said that something had transpired during the last day or two that made it imperative that the conference should consider this question. A motion was moved by' Mr AV. H. Allen, a meqibor of the executive, as under: “That as the pooling of dairy produce under the present system is depressing prices, and is not in the interests of the producers, the conference requests the Dairy Board to abolish the pool forthwith. ’’ The mover explained that th© motion was really the outcome of Mr Goodfellow’s visit to the Old Country and Mr Goodfellow’s report to the board 1 of his own company. His report was tantamonut to the setting u,p of a co-operative marketing association in London.

A very lengthy’ discussion ensued, several amendments being defeated. Finally an amendment was moved by the vice-president (Mr Mncky): “That further consideration of this matter be deferred pending a. reply by telegraph from Mr Grounds, asking his opinion on the motion.” This was carried.

Remits were carried that a Stock Food Act be placed on the Statute Book, in order to obviate the adulteration of stock food; that any qualified person be empowered to spey cows and affix the Government brand, the department to be asked to recognise spoying as a legitimate operation ; that the Upper House should be elected, as provided by the law now on the' Statute Book.
