ST. AIDAN’S CHURCH
ANNUAL. MEETING OF PARISHIONERS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. Aidan’s Church was held in the hall on Tuesday evening. The vicar, Rev. Mr. Solomon, presided over a good attendance. The vicar read the annual report, which dealt "with the -work of the church in the Otakeho, Manaia and Okaiawa parishes. Special reference was made to the loss sustained by the deaths of Mr. F. H. Lowe and Mrs. W. S. Young, of Manaia and Otakeho, also the good work done by Messrs. H. R. Penny and B. Phillips and the members of the Okaiawa Ladies ’ Guild. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £24 Os 3d. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The following officers for the year were elected: Vicar’s warden, Mr. B. Phillips, parishioner’s warden, Mr. H. R. Penny; vestry, Messrs. J. C. Barclay, W. G. Williams, H. G. Blackman, A. Ward, J. E. Mortimer, J. C. Wood;, auditor, Mr. J. C. Barclay. The appointment of a caretaker was left in the hands of the secretary. Mr. Penny was appointed collector for the ensuing year.
CHILDREN’S BALL. \ At the conclusion of the foregoing meeting, a further meeting was held in connection with the annual children’s ball. Mr. W. G. Williams read the annual report and balance sheet for the past year, the latter showing :i credit balance of £l4 13s sd. It was decided to hold the ball again this year. No definite date was fixed, but it is to be sometime in June. Mr. Williams was re-elected seere tary, and last year’s committee, w r itb power to add to its muster, was reelected. Mesdames Mortimer, and Edwards were appointed to buy the prizes and also obtain tickets. Messrs. Williams and Mortimer were appointed door-keepers. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Press for the good treatment accorded the committee last year. At the conclusion of the meeting, a musical programme was gone through, those contributing items being Miss V. Mortimer (piano solo), Mrs. J. Johnstone (song—encored), Mr. Blackman (song-, Miss Williams (song—encored), Mr. Williams (mandolin solo—encored). The ladies then handed round supper, a little attention which was much appreciated.
