CRICKET.
TAME FINISHES COMPLAINED OF BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, May 22. ‘ ‘ The public are tired of drawn county matches and tame finishes, which are resulting in empty grounds on the third day, ’ ’ says Strudwiek, ■who suggests that a declaration should he compulsory when the opponents could win if they scored 90 per hour, tlie leaders taking full championship points if seven wickets fall before the close with the total not passed;, if less than seven wickets are drawn the side with the best average should take the points. Strudwiek adds that this would produce real cricket, because the batsmen would be forced to try to score and bowlers to attempt to get wickets in the last hours of the game.
