BUSINESSMAN ASSAULTED
(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, May 24. George Sutton, aged 45, was charged at the Police Court wifh drunkenness and with assaulting a businessman, Louis Anderson. The latter was walking in a city street yesterday afternoon when the accused grabbed him and said: “I’m going to shoo.t you.” He Avas promptly given into custody. The accused who said he remember-, ed nothing about the incident, was fined £1 or, in default, three days’ imprisonment, for assault. YOUNG, WOMAN ADMITS THEFT.
CHRISTCHURCH, May "24. Pleading guilty to 'Stealing sums of money amounting to £1892 from the drapery firm of Drayton and Jones, Ltd., Nancy Hastings Carr, 22 years of ago, was committed to tho Supreme Court for sentence. The young woman was employed as the firm’s secretary from November 24, 1924, till April 29, 1927, and had full charge of the cash and business transactions. Ini a .statement admitting her guilt, ishe stated that she bad 'soent the money folishly.
