PROFIT IN CEMENT. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, May 23. Wilson’s Portland Cement Complin y shows a net profit for the year of £88,208. The directors recommend a dividend of 10 per cent. PAHIATUA ITEMS. PAHIATUA, May, 23. A queen carnival running for four weeks in aid of the Catholic Presbytery fund has just concluded. Despite the financial depression, over £llOO was raised. A prominent local resident, Air J. A. Walsh, acted as honorary organiser. Cream suppliers to the local dairy factories are taking steps for the concentration of supplies in order to obviate the- hitherto wasteful method of collection. Several lorries have been running over the roads. It is hoped to avoid this, also to keep supplies in the district. FIRE AT TOKOAIARU BAY. GISBORNE, May 23. A fire at Tokomaru Bay destroyed a general store owned by S. AlcKee. AIOTOR-CARS DAMAGED BY FIRE. WELLINGTON, Alay 23. A shed belonging to the Wellington City Council was found to be ablaze about 3.30 o’clock this morning in Harris Street. A portion was occupied by AlcAlahon Alotor Supplies, and the back part by the council. In McMahon’s portion ten motor-cars and three motor-cycles were 'severely damaged. The City Council’s portion contained four cars, one cycle and sidecar, all of ivliich were badly damaged. The insurances are not available. RABBIT SKINS IN DEAfAND. DUNEDIN, Alay 23. Otago central district is being eagerly canvassed by rabbit skin buyers, offering high prices. Some rabbiters are making £SO per week.
