ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A VERDICT OF SUICIDE. (BY TKLEGHAPH—PHEBB ASSOCIATION./ CHRISTCHURCH, May 22. On Friday afternoon, Sydney Frederick Voice, a young man, left his home in Elmwood Road. Feudal ton, and yesterday hi® dead body was found in Royd’s paddocks at Fendalton, with a discharged shotgun beside it. A note was found in the gun case stating deceased’s intention to commit suicide. An inquest was held by Mr. Lowry, S.M., this afternoon. The evidence was that the' deceased was a labourer and was unemployed. He appeared to be in his usual state of health, but had seemed somewhat depressed. The coroner gave a verdict of suicide.

A BOY KILLED. AUCKLAND, May 22. David Douglas, of Remuera, aged six years, was knocked down and killed by a motor-car on the road outside the police station at Remuera. He was taken to the hospital, but died a few moments * after admission. It was stated that the boy was standing on the footpath close to the police station when he suddenly ran across the road in front of the approaching ear. David was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Douglas, of Lochmiel Road.

FOUR WOMEN INJURED. CHRISTCHURCH, May 23. Through a collision between a tram and a motor ear at the corner of Stanmore Road and Gloucester Street yesterday, four women occupants of the car had to be admitted to hospital. All were suffering from injuries and shock and one, Mrs. Hart, of Timaru, has a fractured femur, and Mrs. Marshall .a broken collarbone. The driver of the car was slightly hurt. His machine was hit broadside on and carried fifteen yards and almost turned over.

FATAL SHOOTING ACCIDENT. AUCKLAND, May 23. Leonard Gabites, a young married man died in the hospital last evening as the result of gun shot wounds. A gun had been fled by a neighbour, George W. Cox, at deceased’s request, at. a cow which had gone mad. The cow charged Cox, and as he fell tin gun went off.
