MEREMERE-OHANGAI SPORTS
ON WEDNESDAY NEXT. Preparations are going apace for the sports day of the Meremere-Ohangai Club, .fixed for Wednesday, in a paddock on Mr J. Anderson’s farm, Ohangai The'programme of events is most varied in stvle, and should cater well for all taste's and give _ everyone who attends a. most interesting day s outing. Boys’ and girls’ races, open and amateur events for various distances, cycle races, classes for children’s ponies, and far mens’ spring carters and utility horses—these are some of the general events. In addition there is an interesting race, 110 yards, for footballers in complete togs, and finally the Ohangai v. Whareroa football .fixture, to be played at 2.30 p.m. on .the sports ground. The little ones will not he neglected, and there will be children’s races all the day. ... . ~ Luncheon booths will he on the ground, and', these will he very useful and convenient. . In the evening there- will he- a hall, an. appropriate finale to the day’s gathering. The committee, under the president (Mr J. Anderson) and the hon. secretaries (Messrs P. Sheah’an and A. Williams), have been 'and are busy on details connected with the .sports, and tlieir work will ensure a successful meeting.
