DEFENCE OF AUSTRALIA.
LABOUR POLICY AMENDED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, May 17. The Labour Conference at Canberra passed a resolution amending the Federal Party’s policy, particularly in regard to defence. It was resolved that the Commonwealth constitution be amended in order to include 'a condition that there should be no conscription for service overseas, the Government retaining power to provide for adequate home defence against possible foreign invasion. It was also decided to insert a new rule in the platform that all incomes up to £3OO yearly should be exempt from taxation, and that the Government should have complete control over wireless.
