(From Our Own Correspondent.) farm notes. Quite a number of our local farmers intend to relinquish! their present lioloings and seek farms elsewherei betoie the new season begins. Among, these are Messrs D. Barlow, W. Williams, G. Scott, J. French, and J. vyhitcombe. Recently''one of the best little farms in the district was sold at onethird the price! it would have brought during the boom-time. This,-however, ■ does not detract from the quality of the land in this district, but speaks, rather of sanity returning to the laud market. CHURCH AFFAIRS. The congregation of the Presbyterian church of Aurqa intend tendering the Rev. Mr. .Smith .a farewell social next Thursday evening. This minister has been over eight yoariy hi charge oi the Mianaia circuit, during which time lie Inns endeared himself among the .residents of this district whether of liis church or otherwise. THE! “SOCCER”. CLUB. On Saturday the A u rea “Soocei team once more upheld its reputation by winning the match with Hiawera by two goals, to one. The game, played on the local grounds, was keenly contested throughout, and with better luck the Hawera club might have reversed tlie position. On Wednesday evening lif’jst the “soccer” club held another of its euchre parties, Mils. Bitheno winning the ladiy’is prize, and Master Alisclief.sk i the gent’s prize. THE AURO'A HALL. The annual meeting of local residents for tlie purpose of electing ia new hall committee for the ensuing year took place on Saturday evening. Quite a fair number was present, although the, previous meeting had fallen through for want of a quorum. 'Hie president (Mr. A. F. Kruse) occupied the chair, anti outlined the work done during the preceding year. The Hsec-retary (Air. H. Buxton) presented the balance-sheet of the past year's, working. Owing to the Joss of pictures revenue and the expenditure of over £75 in -renovating the interior of the hall; a very small balance (£3) was shown. To carry on the next year’s finances it was derided to hold weekly euchre parties and dances, on, every Tuesday. In order to popularise* these, gatherings the charge for the euchre party, supper, and. dance was fixed at a, very low rate. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted in Mr. A. F.
