DENTISTS IN CONFERENCE. (BY TELEGRAPH~FRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, May 17. The annual conference of the New Zealand Dental Conference ha® opened, with Mir Lawrence Taylor in the chair. The delegates were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr Troup. OIL COMPANY’S REPORT. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 17. Taranaki Oilfields Ltd. reports: Waiapu No. 2 —Well drilled to 1135 feet in grey shale; water and little gas from 1105 to 1110 feet; hole caving; 10-inch casing run to 1128 feet. Taranaki No. 3—Well still obstructed from 72 to 77 feet, but progress now more satisfactory. Gisborne No. 1— Good progress made in erection of rig and camp. Weather delaying transport. FIRE AT MOTU. GISBORNE, May 17. Lovells motor garage at Motu, was destroyed by fire. The damage was estimated at £SOO
